Drone Attacks Damage Residential Buildings in Kharkiv and Odessa, Impacting Households and Local Economy

In a series of drone attacks during the night of June 1, multiple residential buildings in Kharkiv and Odessa were damaged, resulting in injuries and fires. Local authorities reported that five-story and nine-story apartment buildings were hit, causing partial structural destruction and significant property damage.

Serhiy Lysak, head of the Odessa military administration, confirmed that a Russian drone struck a nine-story residential building in Odessa, damaging the first and second floors, setting parts of the building ablaze, and damaging balconies and the building facade. Four residents in Odessa were injured in the attack. Additionally, fires broke out in one two-story non-residential building and two single-story structures, further compounding damage in the area.

In Kharkiv, regional military administration head Oleh Synehubov reported that the attacks damaged a five-story residential building, several multi-story apartment blocks, garages, and vehicles parked nearby. Fires were also ignited as a result of these strikes. The mayor of Kharkiv, Ihor Terekhov, noted further damage to at least three private homes in different districts of the city. The town of Bohodukhiv in the Kharkiv region was also targeted, with one strike injuring two residents, including a 34-year-old Kharkiv woman and a 39-year-old woman from Bohodukhiv.

"The attacks have not only caused physical damage but also pose a significant threat to the financial security and wellbeing of affected households," said a local community representative.
